Dr. David C. Blackburn joined our team at Corsicana Cancer Center in 2017. He came to us after practicing Radiation Oncology at Park Plaza Hospital in Houston for 35 years. He graduated from Wake Forest University in 1976 and received his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine in 1979. He interned at Ellis Fischel State Cancer Hospital before he completed his residency in Radiation Oncology at M.D. Anderson in 1983. Patient care is Dr. Blackburn's top priority and he is very good at listening, explaining and answering questions. We are so lucky to have a doctor with his experience, approachability and communication skills in Corsicana.
He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, reading and hiking.
Dr. Zusman has been a practicing Radiation Oncologist for 30 years. He graduated from Johns Hopkins Medical School in 1969. He interned at the University of Chicago Hospital and did his Fellowship in Hematology Oncology at the University of Minnesota in the early 1970's. In the late 70's he was the Director of Cancer Chemotherapy at Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center in Durham and then became the Chief of Pediatric Hematology/ Oncology in New Orleans. Dr. Zusman went to M.D. Anderson for his residency and in Radiation Oncology says that was the best decision of his life.
Not only is he smart and caring, Dr. Zusman is very funny and bilingual. We are thrilled to have a Radiation Oncologist with his background and experience.
Leonor Edgar is the team leader of our Radiation Therapists. She brings 20+ years of experience in Radiation Therapy to the Corsicana Cancer Center. Leonor is a member of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Barbara is happy to be a team member of CCC. She joined with 36+ years of experience in Radiation Therapy. Barbara is a Registered Nurse and Medical Radiologic Technologist. Even as a "youngster" she knew in her heart that her special calling was to be a nurse.
Barbara takes the road less traveled. She enjoys traveling, exploring, motorcycling, hunting, country life and all types of critters.
Michael earned bachelors degrees in Physics and Biology from Western Maryland in 1980. He worked as a Medical Dosimetrist and Physicist at Johns Hopkins University from 1980 to 1988 and earned a Masters in Radiological Health Physics from Johns Hopkins University in 1985. He became certified in Therapeutic Radiological Physics by the American College of Radiology in 1988 and in Medical Dosimetry by The American Association of Medical Dosimetrists in 1989.
Michael practiced Medical Physics at St Joseph Medical Center from 1988 until 2013. He has worked as an independent consulting Medical Physicist for U.S Oncology, St. Luke's Hospital, Methodist Hospital, Park Plaza Hospital, University of Texas, and Sugar Land Veterinary Specialists.
Fre'Etta earned a bachelors degree in Psychology from the University and a bachelors of science degree in Physics from the University of Houston. In the spring of 2019 she was accepted into the PhD Medical Physics Program at M.D. Anderson. She has nearly a decade of experience in the field of Medial Physics. Fre'Etta has worked as an independent contractor at Park Plaza Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, Sugar Land Veterinary Specialists, and the Medical Center of Southeast Texas- Port Aurthur. She joined the Corsicana Cancer Center team in the spring of 2018.
She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, learning, volunteering, and creating opportunities for others to be apart of the scientific community .
Corsicana Cancer Center is pleased to introduce Sherri Aehlert as the patient services receptionist on our team. She joined Corsicana with 15+ years of experience in medical reception and office management.
Sherri was born and raised in Phoenix Arizona. Her hobbies include spending time with her family and friends, her two fur babies Buddy & Bentley, participating in outdoor activities, and being active in her church.
Natalie O'Neill is the wife of Michael. Her expertise at Johns Hopkins Hospital as a PRN Unit Clerk, ER Admissions Unit Clerk, Child Life Intern (working with terminally ill children), and Nutritionist, provided her with an in depth understanding of the inner workings of a large hospital and an understanding of medical terminology. She was the Mayor of Taylor Lake Village, Texas for 10 years, which provided her with administration experience.
Natalie's degree in Psychology and Counseling gives her a special affinity for patient's needs. She assists those who are diagnosed and uninsured. She truly believes that the patient comes first. Her goal is to make the patient's treatment as easy, comfortable and successful as possible, by reducing the patient's stress and listening to their concerns.
Haylie is the Medical Assistant at Corsicana Cancer Center. She has previous medical experience in fertility and joined our team in 2018. She attended Navarro Community College where she received her certificate in Medical Assisting.
Haylie was born and raised in Corsicana and has a love for her community and the people in it. In her spare time, Haylie enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. She enjoys watching her kids play sports and participating in lots of outdoor activities.
